Jeff Kahns was born in Herington and grew up in Lincolnville, Kan., where his family owned and operated a petroleum distribution business. Growing up in the family business and then working for two years as operations manager on the bulk oil/bulk fuel side taught him the dynamics of the petroleum marketing industry.

Kahns graduated from Emporia State University in 1997 with a bachelor of science degree in education. Over a period of eight years, he worked for two insurance organizations. One of these insurance companies was national in scope.

In the summer of 2008, Kahns came to KFSA as a commercial accounts manager. He has had experience in the marketing, underwriting and risk management areas of commercial insurance. Kahns has seen a growing need for risk management awareness and is pursuing his designation as an Associate Risk Manager (ARM).

Kahns and his wife, Anna, have one daughter and a new addition on the way. In his spare time, he enjoys taking the family to the zoo, watching movies, and camping and hiking. He also enjoys playing golf and socializing with friends.
