Terry D. Bertholf, Attorney at Law
General Counsel

Terry Bertholf's association with KFSA began in 1974, a year after he graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree and was admitted to the Kansas Bar Association. Over the years, he has represented clients before Kansas Courts and the U.S. District Court for the District Court of Kansas.

Bertholf practices cooperative law, providing legal advice and counsel to KFSA and its affiliated companies, the Kansas Cooperative Council and local Kansas farmers' cooperative associations. He focuses on litigation and its avoidance, corporate law, acquisition and disposition of assets, mergers and consolidations, and joint ventures and subsidiaries, including limited liability companies.

His experience with cooperative organization issues includes structure and governance (including articles of incorporation and bylaws), management/board/member relations, employment law practices and policies, and environment and insurance law.

A member of the Reno County, Kansas, and American Bar associations, Bertholf was born in Kingman, and grew up in Spivey, Kan. He currently serves as the executive committee chairman for the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives' Legal Tax and Accounting Committee, and also is a member of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives, Midwest Chapter.

He and his wife, Linda, have two adult sons who live in Kansas City, and a grandson. Away from the office, Bertholf enjoys gardening, traveling and following KU sports.
